Ghost Doctor tells the story of a doctor who are afraid of surgery, named Go Seung-tak, and then become a skilled one after a skilled doctor who became a ghost after being in a coma, named Cha Young-min, possessed him. The two doctors are really opposite to each other, and they grew closer because of this incident. They tried to help the patients in coma as well as tried treating Cha Young-min and get out of coma as well.
Main Characters and Their Previous Works I'd watched.
Rain played the role of Cha Young-min and I watched him before in the drama that I forgotten but a good drama named "Sketch". It was a good drama, I just totally forgotten it or it doesn't usually pop in my mind but when I heard the title, I just remembered how good this drama is. On the other hand, Kim Beom played the role of Go Seung-Tak who also starred in the legal drama "Law School". Between "Law School" and "Ghost Doctor", both I dropped in the middle and was able to continue after years, I think Kim Beom played his best in this series.
Director and Writer and their Previous works.
The director of this drama is Boo Sung-Chul, who also directed some well-known drama such as "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" and "The Heirs" which started my K-Drama life in TV here in the Philippines. The two mentioned are just some of his dramas and the only drama that I have known but a good one. Kim Sun-Soo written this drama and this drama is one of the two drama series he wrote. It was fair enough and it has its own appeal, but it is not that promising.
Story
The story was unique in terms of a fantasy medical drama. But somehow, to see ghost in medical drama has its own pros and cons. It might be of help or not in making the drama more dramatic. For this drama, it sometimes helps but not most of the time. It was an average drama; it was not that very good and not bad at all, yet it was fun to watch. I dropped this drama or stop at the middle because it didn't give me the wow or heartbreaking effect but somehow it gave an ending that somehow satisfying for me.
Acting
The actors and actress were able to deliver their character well until the end. I can't say that they all excel but some had their moment that they actually shine. The protagonist made me hate them from time to time.
Favorite Character on this Series
My favorite character on this series is Go Seung-Tak. He, for me, had the deepest character and back story. He is very important in this series. He is a good person. He is also a doctor who wants to help people but he is just too scared because of the trauma he experienced.
Favorite Actor/Actress on this Series
At the same time, my favorite actor on this drama would be Kim Beom. As I stated above, he did well here better than in Law School, again for me and I want to hear your thoughts because I know we may have different view about this. His emotion was so sincere specially in the part where he tried to revive the person in the E.R. Though, I must admit that some part of the reviving part may looks like it is poorly done.
Favorite Couple/Tandem on this Series
The heart of the story would be my favorite tandem, no other than Go Seung-Tak and Cha Young-min. It started that Young-min didn't like Seung-Tak but because of certain scenario but only Seung-Tak can help Young-min, they started to know each other and help each other.
Rating: 7.5/10
For a medical drama it is average at the same time for fantasy drama it is fun. I can't say it was the best, but I can say that it is worth the watch. Viewers can be entertained by this drama, and they can somehow learn from it. Since drama is for entertainment, I guess this drama did its part.
