Perfect Marriage Revenge (2023) - Series Review: "Provoking Antagonist"

Han Yi-Joo, a woman betrayed by her family and her deceitful husband, discovers an extraordinary opportunity to rewrite her destiny. She endures the emotional pain of her family's disapproval and suspects her husband's hidden affections for her sister. However, an unexpected event shatters her world and serves as a catalyst for a remarkable journey.

Devastated and desperate for a fresh start, Yi-Joo mysteriously finds herself transported back in time, a year before her ill-fated marriage. Armed with the knowledge of the impending betrayal and heartbreak, she resolves to reshape her future and take control of her destiny.

Main Characters and Their Previous Works I'd watched.

Jung Yoo-Min played the role of Han Yi-Joo, and this was the first drama series I watched where she was the main lead. Sung Hoon played the role of Seo Do-Guk. He is quite perfect for this kind of drama, and one of his other dramas, which is similar to this one, is 'My Secret Romance,' of which I have also finished watching.

Director and Writer and their Previous works.

This drama is unique because both the director, Oh Sang-Won, and the writers, Young, Lee Beom-Bae and Jerryball, along with the additional screenwriter Im Seo-Ra, were the creators.

Story

The narrative intrigued me profoundly, particularly due to the exceptional portrayal of the antagonist. In a revenge-themed drama, a compelling antagonist is pivotal, and this story excelled in that aspect. The entire revenge plot gained its strength from the nuanced depiction of the antagonist. The seamless connection of the storyline and the infusion of fantasy elements elevated the enjoyment of the revenge narrative. Originating from a webtoon, this type of drama holds a unique allure, as it brings forth the limitless possibilities inherent in webtoon storytelling to the television screen. The adaptation was truly captivating, making it a series well worth watching.

Acting

In terms of acting, everyone somehow did they part but it was the antagonist such as Han Yoo-ra played by

Favorite Character on this Series

My favorite character in "Perfect Marriage Revenge" is Cha Yeon-Hwa, the mother of Seo Do-Guk. She is a great mother who truly wants the best for her son. Though she may be initially against Yi-Joo for Do-Guk, her great heart and understanding help her to accept Yi-Joo.

Favorite Actor/Actress on this Series

As an actor, Jin Ji-Hee, who played the role of Han Yoo-Ra, really did a great job. She made me hate her, and her expressions were very expressive; you could see the disgust, the hate, and all her emotions. She can portray fakeness very well too, making her my favorite actor in the series.

Favorite Couple/Tandem on this Series

My favorite couple or tandem in this series is none other than the main couple, Seo Do-Guk and Han Yi-Joo. They break boundaries, travel through time, and demonstrate their love no matter what. While they may have started due to a contract, the care they show for each other and what they've been through help deepen their love even more.

Rating: 8.5 /10

Overall, this is a good drama to watch. It is simple yet very beautiful, showcasing the story in an uncomplicated way that makes it more appreciable. Initially, when I started watching, I found it boring. However, after finishing the first episode, I appreciated it more and continued watching until I finished it.
