Fan Letter, Please (2022) Series Review: "Short But Sweet"

This was, by far, the shortest Korean drama series I've ever seen. Definitely a short story, but it was a good one. As I mentioned in my review of the pilot episode, this story is about an actress named Han Gang Hee who has a Fan Letter trauma. Sooyoung portrayed Han Gang Hee. To be honest, I'm not familiar with her.

The trauma she experienced occurred when she was in high school and still a newbie actress, and she received a not-so-nice Fan Letter with blood and a knife on it. Since that day, she has refused to open any fan letters because every time she touched them, the trauma resurfaced in his mind. She prefers to read mean comments on the internet because she believes those people are more truthful.

The series also tackles the story of his high school classmate and crush, Bang Jun Seok, who is played by Yoon Park. Yoon Park is someone I'm familiar with because, if I'm not mistaken, he was the second lead in Radio Romance. I recall writing in a post that I had second lead syndrome while watching that drama.

Despite my lack of familiarity with the actress and actor, I thought they were both excellent in this series. A good series makes stars shine even brighter. Not all series can make stars shine brightest, but this is one of those short series that can make them shine brighter.

There was a lot of complication in the story. In normal dramas, those complications could be extended, but because this was intended to be a short drama, they ended them properly, such as identifying the real mother of Bang Jung-seuk's daughter and some issues with the fan letter and bullying of Han Gang Hee.

Overall, it was an enjoyable drama. Every episode is essential, and because it is short, every detail in each episode is important. The drama was not particularly heavy, but it was heartfelt.
