"At a Distance, Spring is Green" captured my awareness after I discovered Park Ji-Hoon in Weak Hero Class 1. His outstanding performance in that series prompted me to look into his previous work, which led me to this one. I watched the first episode and was hooked until the end.

This series tells the story of university students such as Yeo Joon (Park Ji-Hoon), Kim So-Bin (Kang Min-Ah), and Nam Soo-Hyun (Bae In-Hyuk). These three students are hardworking individuals who had stories that kept them from being truly happy.
Yeo Joon is a cute first-year university student with a bright personality. He only tries to project a positive image to others. He was raised by wealthy parents who did not shower him with affection. He grew up traumatized, believing that his brother had physically abused him.
Kim So-Bin is a sincere and honest third-year student. She, like Yeo-Joon, had a difficult childhood. She has been living with her father since her parents' divorce. She was bullied in elementary school by her classmates who claimed her mother was a mistress, causing her trauma and causing her to avoid drawing attention to herself.

Nam Soo-Hyun is a smart, perfectionist university student with a good appearance and excellent academic grades. Despite his good grades, he is poor and struggling, so he works a variety of part-time jobs to support himself and his family. He is cynical about people because of his situation.
The series delves into their lives, how they became involved in each other's lives, and how their relationship grew stronger. According to what others have said, it was a good coming-of-age drama which I agree. At the same time, I acknowledge that it is a healing drama, not just for the characters, but also for those who are going through what the characters are going through.
I like how the story began and ended in a narrative style. It began with each character's point of view and ended with their more mature point of view. According to viewers, the original story was BL story. I have a feeling it was meant to be BL, but I believe Korea, like the Philippines, is not yet ready to make BL the main theme in free TV dramas like Thailand. I haven't seen the original webtoon of this one, but if it's true, it's a bit sad. But the writer and producer were brave enough to adapt a BL series and then make it a straight one. Regardless of the changes, I can still feel the BL madness in the story.
Conflicts, particularly with the past and family, are what really make a drama good, which is what I've always meant. It was nice because, despite the difficulties, they were able to resolve their life conflicts. I recall Bae In-Hyuk's character telling Park Ji-Hoon's character that because he is poor and Ji-Hoon is rich, they cannot be friends.

We think about it from time to time, but true friendship does not require you to be both rich and poor. Friendship is something we can pursue without spending money, as they demonstrated in the final part of the story. True friends will come if you are honest with yourself.
I didn't have high hopes for this series because I was so taken with Ji-Hoon's performance in Weak Hero Class 1. I honestly thought it was an usual drama, but I guess I was mistaken. This drama was actually quite good and had its own impact. When I started this one, I told myself that Park Ji-Hoon and his management had chosen the right story for Ji-Hoon to use his acting prowess and appeal.
